Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of families and children in crisis? Join our dynamic Family Preservation team at Methodist Home for Children, serving New Hanover County. As a Family Preservation/Reunification Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping struggling families overcome challenges, restore stability, and keep children safely in their homes.

Your one-on-one support will empower parents to regain control of their lives and offer their children a brighter future—right at home where they belong.
What You’ll Do:
Provide home-based, therapeutic interventions to families at risk of out-of-home child placements.
Develop customized service plans, setting goals that focus on skill-building and family empowerment.
Maintain strong relationships with county agencies, local mental health programs, and community resources.
Offer 24/7 availability to client families, ensuring continuous support in times of crisis.
Collaborate with families and agencies to meet service needs, utilizing community and agency resources.
Serve a caseload of families for up to 24 weeks, ensuring focused and effective intervention.
Document case notes and provide timely reporting to supervisors, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
Conduct follow-ups and participate in program evaluations to track outcomes and improve services.
Provide consultations to agencies on cases that may not be suitable for family preservation services.
What You Bring:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral science degree (Master’s Degree preferred).
Two years of full-time experience in social work, counseling, or relevant human services under qualified supervision.
A commitment to live in/near Wilmington, NC, for frequent, in-person client interactions.
A passion for working with families in crisis, helping them navigate complex issues with resilience and compassion.
