Recovery Supervisor - White's Residential and Family Services (Indiana)

Full-time/Regular/Exempt

 Qualifications: Must be a Christian with strong convictions who is also in agreement with White’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct. This person must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related Human Services field.  Must be able to function as a supervisor of a team and have good case planning, discharge planning, communica­tion, interpersonal, and writing skills.  The Recovery Supervisor will work to obtain credentials through ICAADA such as ACIT, CARC, CAPRC or CADAC I to increase their knowledge, understanding, and skills in addressing the needs of the youth referred for treatment.  

 Reports to: Program Director

 Job Summary: The Recovery Supervisor (RS) is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising direct care staff in an assigned Recovery Home (up to eight staff members).  The RS is also responsible for the management of youth cases/treatment including discharge planning and linking youth to resources to support their recovery following placement. The Recovery Supervisor must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs. 

Basic Responsibilities

 Recovery Home Supervision  

·        Hire, train, and supervise direct care staff for assigned Recovery Home.

·        Provide PTO approval and ensure Recovery Home coverage.

·        Ensure all Recovery Home documentation requirements are completed including daily log notes, pain assessment documentation, safety plan checks, medication documentation, etc. 

·        Complete timecard approval in ADP.

·        Complete yearly and/or twice yearly direct care staff coaching reviews.

·        Complete and/or ensure completion of Environment of Care checklists and provide feedback to Recovery Home staff as directed by the Recovery Services Program Director.

·        Provide support and intervention to Recovery Home staff during youth crises situations.

·        Ensure fidelity to the Teaching Family Model by completing bi-weekly observations of direct care staff and monthly consultation summaries.

·        Provide Teaching Family Model training to White’s staff in all programs. 

·        Complete Performance Correction documentation, where appropriate, to Recovery Home staff.

·        Supervise and interact effectively with those identified Recovery staff to motivate and ensure compliance with Indiana Department of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA), American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), DCS licensing, and other accrediting bodies.

 Case Supervision

·        Complete intake assessments, Individual Crisis Management Plans, progress reports, weekly log notes, discharge plans, and other case management requirements.

·        Coordinate case planning through communication with Recovery Team participants including:  youth and family, Therapists, Recovery Services Program Director, school personnel, placing agents, medical staff, and community resources/supports.

·        Participate in weekly treatment plan updates with other members of the Recovery Services Treatment Team.   

·        Facilitate Review Boards for youth with significant behavioral incidents or when directed by the Recovery Services Program Director.

·        Co-facilitate therapeutic groups as needed and directed by the Recovery Services Program Director.

·        Ensure youth transportation to any required medical appointments.

·        Perform other related duties as directed by the VP of Recovery Services or Recovery Services Program Director.

·        Must maintain regular attendance including reporting to work on time and remaining on duty as scheduled while providing appropriate notice per policy for necessary absences. 

Skills, Supervision, Knowledge, and Ability

 ·    Must be dependable, well organized, and an effective people and time manager.

·    Must have the skills and abilities to supervise direct care staff and manage case planning requirements.

·    Must demonstrate the ability to provide effective direct feedback to staff regarding performance within the framework of the Teaching Family Model.

·    Must have the ability to clearly, concisely, and professionally communicate ideas through good verbal and written skills.

·    Must be knowledgeable of DCS Rules, accreditation standards, DMHA requirements, and ASAM standards regarding supervision, case planning, and the treatment of youth with Substance Use Disorders. 

·    Must be knowledgeable of mental health/substance use diagnoses and services.

·    Must be genuine, empathetic, and emotionally connected in helping youths, relating with families, and working with the placing agent.

·    Must be a team player, that is, one who enjoys working closely with other staff members and has the ability to be flexible, adaptive, and positive in his/her interactions with others including those supervised, peers, and others with whom White's interacts in fulfilling its goals and mission.

·    Must maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

·    Must be proficient in the use of Google Mail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

·    Must be able to effectively use an electronic medical record. 

·    Must have a valid driver's license.

·    Must be committed to the Mission, Core Values, and Vision of White’s Residential and Family Services.

·    Must be able to lead devotions and provide other spiritual programming activities for youth and staff. 

 Physical Demands of Position

 ·    Must be able to actively participate in the physical restraint of youths who are in crisis (must meet the requirements of Mindset physical restraints).

·    Must be able to do extensive walking, participate in Recovery Home recreation, and do physical labor (that involves lifting and bending) with residents.

·    Must be able to meet regular, and sometime short, deadlines on supervision documentation, youth treatment documentation, correspondence, and other assignments.

 Working Conditions

 ·    Normal scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The Recovery Supervisor will be required to work one evening per week either Monday or Friday (alternating) from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

·    Work every fourth weekend (Saturday and Sunday) as an on-call/support person for the Residential campus, which involves pursuing runaways, assisting campus supervisor in discipline problems, assisting with coverage, providing transportation, and performing other duties as requested by the Campus Supervisor.

·    Work holidays as scheduled except Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day.  If Christmas falls on a Recovery Supervisor’s normal day or weekend on duty, then he/she will work Christmas and be off Thanksgiving. Otherwise, he/she will normally work Thanksgiving and be off on Christmas.

·    Flexibility in regard to the work schedule is required based on the immediate needs of the Recovery Home.  

·    Must be able to work with residents' medical problems, which may include exposure to bodily fluids.

·    The Recovery Supervisor may reside on White’s Residential Campus depending on available housing units.
